ICE helps to build a more cyber-resilient Slovakia

Project NFP401101C360 – Research and Development of Advanced Artificial Intelligence Solutions for Cyber Threat Detection and Defense Against Sophisticated Attacks delivers significant benefits for cybersecurity, strengthens research capacities, and enhances the protection of Slovakia’s digital infrastructure.
One of the project’s key contributions is improving the resilience of the country’s digital infrastructure. Through the development of advanced algorithms and behavioral models for cyber threat detection and prevention, the project enhances organizations’ ability to identify and respond to increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks. The research also focuses on protecting critical infrastructure—including public administration, the energy sector, transportation, and healthcare—from continuously evolving cyber threats.
The project also supports the development of domestic research and professional expertise in cybersecurity. A major objective is to strengthen collaboration among Slovak universities and research institutions. As part of the initiative, a shared research laboratory is being established to support the testing and simulation of cyberattacks in a controlled environment.
Another important outcome is the transfer of knowledge between academia and industry. The project bridges cutting-edge research with practical experience through cooperation with strategic partners from the cybersecurity sector. The knowledge generated through this interdisciplinary research will also be integrated into academic programs focused on cybersecurity, information security, and data analytics.
The project further contributes to strengthening Slovakia’s position within the European cybersecurity landscape. By integrating research outcomes into existing security solutions, it supports the development of a stronger and more resilient digital ecosystem. The project also includes the preparation of recommendations for public policy and legislative development in the field of cybersecurity.
An equally important objective is to enhance Slovakia’s technological sovereignty. By supporting the development of domestic solutions based on AI and machine learning, the project helps reduce dependence on foreign technologies while increasing the competitiveness of Slovakia’s technology sector. It also promotes the development of specialized cybersecurity platforms and open-source solutions that contribute to building a stronger European cybersecurity ecosystem. This approach enables Slovak innovation to compete more effectively with major international technology providers.
